Snickerdoodles

1/2 c. butter, softened
1/2 c. shortening
1 1/2 c. sugar
2 eggs
2 3/4 c. flour
2 t. cream of tartar
1 t. baking soda
1/4 t. salt
4 T. sugar
4 t. ground cinnamon

Preheat oven to 400°. Mix thoroughly butter, shortening, 1 1/2 c. sugar and eggs. Blend in flour, cream of tartar, baking soda, and salt. Shape dough by rounded teaspoonfuls into balls. Mix sugar and cinnamon; roll balls in mixture. Place 2" apart on ungreased baking sheet. Bake 8 to 10 minutes or until set. Immediately remove from baking sheet.

Makes 6 dozen.
