Cobbler, Cherry

1 can cherries (not pie filling)
1 c. sugar
1 c. flour
1 c. sugar
1/2 t. salt
2 t. baking powder
1/2 c. milk
1/4 c. butter

Preheat oven to 400°. Pour cherries and juice into bowl with 1 c. sugar. Stir together dry ingredients, add milk, and stir. Put butter in shallow baking pan and melt. Pour batter into pan. Pour cherries on top of batter. Bake 45 to 60 minutes until top is browned.
