| 1/3 c. butter, softened |
| 1/3 c. shortening |
| 1/2 c. sugar |
| 1/2 c. firmly-packed brown sugar |
| 1 egg |
| 2 oz. semisweet chocolate, melted |
| 1 T. milk |
| 1 t. vanilla |
| 2 c. flour |
| 1 t. baking powder |
| 1/2 t. salt |
| 1 c. chopped pecans |
Cream butter and shortening; gradually add sugars, beating well at medium speed with electric mixer. Add egg, melted chocolate, milk, and vanilla, beating well. Combine dry ingredients; add to creamed mixture, mixing well. Stir in pecans. Shape dough into two 9" logs. Cut dough into 1/4" thick slices, and place on ungreased cookie sheets. Bake at 350° for 8 to 10 minutes. Transfer cookies to wire racks to cool completely.
